Paying your Council Tax
There are several ways to pay your Council Tax bill.
The Council understands that many residents will have difficulty in paying their council tax at present. We would encourage you to contact us to either make an arrangement to suit you and for us to help to see if there may be a reduction or relief you would be eligible for.
The Council will send you a council tax bill at the beginning of each financial year (usually mid March) to notify you of the amount you need to pay on a monthly basis.
By Direct Debit
We recommend you pay your Council Tax by direct debit from your bank account. It saves you time and effort. You control your payments and you have the option to cancel at any time. You are also protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. To pay this way please register for an on-line account and complete the on-line direct debit form.
Pay online now
Please note this is a separate system to the online Council Tax account. If you wish to view your Council Tax account, change your address, view online bills, set up direct debits or complete online forms you can do so by using the online Council Tax account.
Standing Order/Internet Banking Transfer
Payment can be made through your bank and via the Internet by simply quoting the Council's own bank account details. Payment is controlled by the ratepayer and unlike Direct Debit, instalments will not be requested automatically. The details that must be quoted are as follows:
Account Name: NatWest Head Office Collection Fund
Account Number: 00000000
Sort Code: 57-84-09
You must ensure that your Council Tax reference is quoted in the transaction to ensure correct allocation of your funds. Please note that the bank transfer account number 00000000 is correct.
Please telephone 0300 303 8588 to pay by debit or credit card (excluding American Express and Diners card). Please have your bill and card with you.
At the Post Office
You can use your payment card at any post office. You must allow at least 5 working days for your payment to reach your council tax account. There is currently no fee for this service. If you do not already have a payment card please apply to the Council so that one may be issued.
To find your local post office use the Post Office Branch Finder.
