Markets & Market Rights
Mendip District Council operates and runs its own stall market service.
Mendip District Council fully recognises the importance of its outdoor markets, and the ability for communities to shop in these open-air environments.
There has been an expected decrease in trader numbers and footfall over recent weeks and months, as such we are adjusting our market opening times slightly - but will remain open daily.
All weekday markets will run as normal, but with slightly reduced hours 9am-12 noon. There will be no markets on Saturdays.
- Tuesday: Glastonbury Market 9am-12pm
- Wednesday: Wells Market 9am-12pm
- Wednesday: Frome Market 9am-12pm
- Thursday: Street Market 9am-12pm
- Friday: Shepton Mallet Market 9am-12pm
- Saturday: No markets at Wells or Frome
To help support Mendip's market traders during Covid-19 restrictions, some of our regular traders are able to offer an online service:
Mendip's Stall Markets
We operate and manage seven weekly stall markets in the Mendip towns. These markets sell Somerset produce, food and drink, crafts and a range of general items. In addition, a Christmas market takes place in Wells leading up to the festive season.
New Market Traders
Please visit our New Market Traders if you would like to register your interest in having a stall at one of our markets.
Mendip District Council have the sole right to hold a market within the district. We do allow other markets to take place and ask that you contact the Events Team to find out if you need to apply for permission to hold a market.
