Markets & Market Rights
Mendip District Council operates and runs its own stall market service.
Mendip's weekly markets reopened in June 2020, after a complete review of layouts, traders and facilities was carried out, to meet the latest Government guidelines.
Due to the current pandemic the markets will be closing earlier than normal. All markets will open at 9.00 a.m. and finish at 2.00 p.m., this is for the gazebos supplied by Mendip District Council for traders to be disinfected after each market, to ensure both the public and traders health and safety.
To help support Mendip's market traders during Covid-19 restrictions, some of our regular traders are able to offer an online service:
Mendip's Stall Markets
We operate and manage seven weekly stall markets in the Mendip towns. These markets sell Somerset produce, food and drink, crafts and a range of general items. In addition, a Christmas market takes place in Wells leading up to the festive season.
