House Extension Design Guide Review
The council's current House Extension Design Guide was created to provide guidance for anyone considering an extension to their property, and includes design ideas and features which are likely to be acceptable as part of a planning application
The guide was adopted in 1993 and although many of the design principles are still relevant today, the council has taken the decision to review the guidelines to reflect modern building styles and designs, and the extent of work that householders can now undertake without planning permission. As part of its review, the council is asking for comments on the current design guide and, in particular, the design principles which the council uses to judge planning applications for house extensions.
A survey has been created to gather feedback, click here to view the link to House Extension Guide Survey. Alternatively, a form is available and this can be hand-delivered, posted or emailed to the council.
The deadline for comments is 10th April. Officers and Councillors will review feedback and then further consult on a new Design Guide as a 'Supplementary Planning Document' .
