Glastonbury Town Deal

The Town Deal initiative is designed to 'level up' all parts of the country, by regenerating town centres to boost businesses, improve infrastructure, encourage enterprise and bring communities together. As one of 101 towns named by the Government, Glastonbury submitted a successful bid and was awarded £23.6 million of a national £3.6 billion Towns Fund pot.

Glastonbury Town DealIn November 2019, the Government published a Prospectus and guidance on the governance arrangements and engaging with local communities, businesses and stakeholders. As the accountable body, Mendip District Council established a Glastonbury Town Deal Board in January 2020 which helped shape the vision for the town and advised on the way forward.  In Autumn 2020, we invited expressions of interest for project proposals that could secure significant investment in growth and those short-listed are in the Glastonbury Town Investment Plan.  Glastonbury has been offered £23.6 million to deliver that Plan.
