Notice of election published for councils in Mendip
Formal 'notice of election' of the forthcoming Town, City and District Council by-elections was published on Monday 22 March 2021.
Voters from Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Wells will go to the polls on Thursday 6 May 2021 to have their say on the by-elections for Town, City and District Councils. Meanwhile, all Mendip residents will have the opportunity to vote in the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner elections.
The publication of the notice means that from Tuesday 23 March 2021, completed nomination papers can be received by the Returning Officer at the Mendip District Council's Offices, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT.
Additionally, formal notice of election for Priddy Parish Council was published today, Wednesday 24 March 2021.
Nomination papers for completion by prospective candidates are now available to be downloaded from the Council's website here: www.mendip.gov.uk/article/9700/Elections-2021. You can also call Mendip's Electoral Services Team on 01749 341391 or 01749 341475 and a nomination pack will be posted to you.
Stuart Brown, Mendip District Council's Chief Executive and Returning Officer, said: "From Tuesday 23 March 2021, completed nomination papers for the Town, City and District Council's by-elections can be returned. Similarly, nomination papers for the Priddy Parish Council by-election can be returned from Thursday 25 March 2021. I would urge anyone thinking of standing for election to complete their form as soon as possible and ensure it is delivered to Mendip District Council by 4pm on Thursday 8 April 2021.
