Condolences: Cllr John Brunsdon MBE, Former Glastonbury Town Councillor and Mendip District Councillor
"We are saddened to hear of the passing of Cllr John Brunsdon MBE. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Cllr John Brunsdon's family, friends, Town Councillors and the whole Glastonbury community where he served as a Councillor for many years.
Cllr Brunsdon completed 44 years continuous service with Glastonbury Town Council between 1975 and 2019 and during this time he was also Glastonbury Mayor in 1980 and 1983. He also served for many years as a Mendip District Councillor and County Councillor.
Cllr Brunsdon was a former Cabinet member and was also Heritage Champion and a Member of the Mendip District Council Conservation Advisory Panel with a keen interest in architectural Conservation. In November 2001, he was awarded the MBE for conservation services in Glastonbury and received his award at Buckingham Palace presented by Prince Charles the Prince of Wales. For many years he was also the Mendip District Council representative on the Somerset Building Preservation Trust, and he would impress councillors and staff alike with the fact he used to walk up the Tor every day.
