Additional Restrictions Grants (ARG) Round 3 - now open
The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) is a discretionary grant scheme to help businesses severely impacted by local restrictions, but who were ineligible for the Local Restrictions Support Grant / National Lockdown Grants.
Round 3 Applications close midnight Thursday 15 April 2021*
Open to businesses who have not applied for a discretionary grant since 1 Jan 2021*
*Round 2 recipients with eligible fixed costs have been awarded and paid a top-up grant based on their previous award. Round 3 will be a short funding round to new claimants from 1 January 2021 only, to enable faster assessment and payment. Round 2 grant recipients should refer to new guidance in mid-April for future funding.
Future funding of discretionary grants will be re-prioritised from mid-April to ensure complete distribution of Mendip's discretionary funds by 30 June 2021 in line with new Government guidance. This will then allow the Council to receive a further top-up allocation to support businesses and economic recovery.
Previous guidance had stated discretionary funds allocated should be spent by 31 March 2022.
Businesses who received a Local Restrictions Support Grant or are due to receive a Restart Grant will not be allowed to receive a discretionary grant in Round 3. The majority of grant awards for businesses with fixed premises/lease/equipment costs will start from £3000 for the majority of claimants, to a maximum of £9000.
In certain instances where claimants cannot meet the required points threshold but is in an industry facing with severe impacts, a smaller grant may be awarded at the Council's discretion.
These grants will principally support medium, small and micro enterprises with fixed costs, such as rent, business rates, lease of vehicles or machinery. This is aimed at non-rate paying businesses which have been legally required to close.
Other businesses who have been severely impacted and can demonstrate losses may also apply, and applications are particularly encouraged from rate payers who mainly supply businesses legally required to close.
