COVID-19: Business Grants
For information about national lockdown support, please bookmark this page and check back regularly for updates.
Updated: 19 February 2021
1. I am registered for business rates and have been legally obliged to close my business. Check here to see if you are legally obliged to close your business.
If you applied for a November lockdown grant (for rated premises, legally obliged to close) and have received payment, you may have already received an email from email@example.com
This allows you to complete a pre-approval faster payment form for the Jan-mid Feb Lockdown. If you have completed this form, you may have already received payment for the period 31 December - 15 February or will do so shortly. We have already successfully paid over 800 businesses using this method. Faster payment forms are only available for rated premises legally obliged to close.
The November lockdown form has been adapted so you can now apply for both November, and/or Jan-mid Feb lockdown periods on a single combined form.
What if I am not eligible for the scheme above?
2. a) I am legally obliged to close my business, but I am not registered for business rates
b) Or, I have not been legally obliged to close my business, but I have been severely impacted.
If 2a) or b) describes your business circumstances, then you are not eligible for the main lockdown grants which are for registered business-rate payers only.
However, you may be eligible to apply for a discretionary grant. See the Additional Restrictions (Grant Round 2) below. Please note, you cannot apply for both grant schemes in the same funding period.
National Lockdown Grants (Jan-Feb) - now open
Update: 8 Feb 2021
Mendip District entered Tier 4 on 31 December 2020 and went into National Lockdown on 5 January 2021.
Businesses who were legally ordered to close, with rated premises are eligible for new national lockdown funds, both for the 5 days spent in Tier 4 and the 42 day period from 5 January to 15 February 2021. A one-off Closed Business Support Payment is also available for this period.
Note: Businesses who have not yet applied for the November national lockdown grant (5 Nov - 1 Dec) may also still apply using the new combined form.
Additional Restrictions Grant (Round 2) - now closed
Update: 19 Feb 2021
Local Authorities have been provided with discretionary funds to provide further support to businesses. The first grant funding round closed on 18 December 2020.
Round 2 funding applications will be accepted from the 27 January to 19 February 2021 at 9am. Non business rate payers legally obliged to close their business; and rate payers who have not been legally obliged to close but have been severely impacted can apply. Please note that if you have previously been awarded an ARG grant, you will still have to apply again, and you will not receive a faster payment form.
Local Restrictions Support Grants & Christmas Support for Wet-Led Pubs - December period only
Update: 15 Jan 2021:
Please note, if you have applied but not received your grant yet for the LRSG or wet-led scheme in December, you will be paid or contacted shortly. We are currently working on multiple grant schemes with different rules and timings, but we expect to resolve outstanding applications as soon as possible.
Grants for hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses are now available for the periods relating 2 December to 30 December 2020, while Mendip District was in Tiers 2 & 3.
A single application may now be completed by business ratepayers, whether your business was legally ordered to close or you were open but severely impacted. A separate application is also available for non-business rate payers in these sectors.
