Alcohol and Licensed Premises Gaming Machine Permit

Certain premises, which are licensed for the sale of alcohol, are entitled to make a number of gaming machines available for use on their premises, if we have given permission to do so.

One of the many functions of the Licensing Authority is to:

● Licence premises for gambling activities

● Grant permits for gaming and gaming machines in clubs

● Regulate gaming and gaming machines in alcohol licensed premises

A premises licence holder of a public house may apply to the Local Authority if they wish to have 3 or more gaming machines in the premises. The premises must have a licence to sell alcohol on the premises and a bar. This cannot be applied for if the premises only serves alcohol with food. This permit is instead of a notification, not in addition to. The premises licence holder may not apply for this permit if the premises holds a licence under the Gambling Act 2005.
