Mendip Business Awards Introduces New Category: Market Trader of the Year
This year's Mendip Business Awards are introducing a new award category, 'Market Trader of the Year'.
The award celebrates the hard work that many individuals and sole traders have put in to supporting markets across Mendip last year. Traders don't need to have a registered business within Mendip, but they do have to show that they have traded at any market in the Mendip district area at least four times during 2018.
This new award is sponsored by Mendip District Council, who organise many of the markets in the district, with weekly markets in; Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Street and Wells. The council are the perfect partner to endorse the award and encourage traders to apply to get the recognition they deserve.
Cllr Nigel Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Community Health said: ''We are very excited to see market traders being recognised at this year's Mendip Business Awards, by having a dedicated award category to enter into. The award will allow Mendip's market traders to showcase their products and services"
Businesses can apply to enter more than one category, but they will need to fill in a separate application form for each category they apply for.
If you are planning to enter into the 'Market Trader of the Year' award and you are a food or drink producer, you might also like to consider entering into the 'Taste of Mendip Award'. This award celebrates all of Mendip's great quality local food and drink producers. The award is sponsored this year by Old Mill Accountants and Financial Planners.
Another award up for grabs is the 'Retail / Hospitality Business of the Year' award. This praises businesses who put Mendip on the map with their warm welcome. It is sponsored this year by Kilver Court.
Cllr Tom Killen, Deputy Leader of Mendip District Council, said: "The Mendip Business Awards offer a great opportunity for businesses of all shapes and sizes to receive recognition of the work that they do. The introduction of the 'Market Trader of the Year' award and the popular 'Taste of Mendip' award, gives small businesses and sole traders the chance to shine at the awards."
You have until midday on the 29 March 2019 to apply. Shortlisted businesses will be invited to the awards ceremony at the Royal Bath and West Showground on Thursday 30 May 2019. Tickets for the ceremony go on sale in March.
