Mendip Planning Service - Advance Notice of System Downtime
Please note that due to an upgrade of the Planning Service's computer systems there will be a period of downtime from 3rd December 2020 to 8th December 2020. Unfortunately, this will mean that:
- The Planning Search facility on our website will be unavailable meaning that application documents cannot be viewed, and comments cannot be made on current applications. We will however be extending the relevant consultation dates to allow for this.
- We will be unable to issue any decisions on planning applications,
- Whilst we will still be able to accept application submissions, we will be unable to validate them.
- Local Land Charges search requests cannot be processed during the downtime meaning that we will be unable to book or return any requests. Search requests can still be submitted, but we will be unable to book these onto the system. Booking will resume from 9th December onwards.
- Any updates or new charges will not available to view on the Land Charges online portal until the upgrade has been completed. If you have any queries please contact the Land Charges team on 01235 422581 or email email@example.com
- The links on Online Maps under the Environment and Planning section will not work during the downtime.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption that this causes.
COVID-19: Guidance relating to the Planning Process in the current situation
Due to the current situation with Covid-19 the Planning Service, with respect to Development Management, has adopted new procedures as from 8 April 2020.
In addition, you can also view representations from members of the public and Parish/Town/City Councils. Once an application has been decided you can view any Officer or Planning Board reports and a copy of the final decision notice.
How to register on the Planning Search facility
It is very easy to set up your Planning Search password, just go directly to the register page on the Planning Search system and fill in your details.
If you have already set up your Planning Search ID and password simply log in.
You can view some of the planning history for properties and related development constraints.
You can find information about planning applications, including application forms, plans and decisions in our dedicated planning search facility.
Commenting or Following an Application:
If you would like to make a comment on a planning application or follow its progress the quickest and easiest way to comment is to use the online comment facility. You will need to register to receive a Planning Search log in and password. Details on how to do this can be found below.

You can make comments on an application in a number of different ways:
