Lilley's Cider are all set for the Wells Christmas Market

Visitors attending this year's Wells Christmas Market are set for a traditional festive cider treat this year, thanks to the 2018 sponsor.

Lilley's Cider are working with Mendip District Council as this year's overall sponsor of the Wells Christmas Market and will be at the event selling their range of cider, gifts and serving mulled cider from their chalet based near the Bishop's Eye Gatehouse.

Over 100 traders will fill Wells Market Place with festive stalls, offering a range of gifts, crafts and food and drink produce, giving shoppers and visitors to the historic city the chance to pick up some last minute gifts and indulgent treats

The Wells Christmas Market will open on Wednesday 19, December and will run to Saturday 22, December from 9am - 4pm each day.

Chris Lilley from Lilley's Cider, said: "Lilley's Cider are over the moon to be given the opportunity to sponsor the 2018 Wells Christmas Market. Our team can't wait to serve up some yummy mulled cider & get into the full festive spirit of the market.

Cllr Nigel Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Community Health and Neighbourhood Services, said: "Last year's Wells Christmas Market was a massive success, we are delighted to be bringing back this popular market again this year and even more delighted to have Lilley's Cider working with us as this year's sponsor.

"Once again the market will have a festive feel, with Christmas music and seasonal refreshments available to help get shoppers in the Christmas mood."

Father Christmas is making a special stop in Wells to join in the festive fun, he will be attending daily. Children stopping by to meet Father Christmas will be treated to a choice of sweets or fruit, which have kindly been donated by Wells supermarkets Tesco and Morrison's.

Wells Blue School, Wells Cathedral School and the Wells Choral Society will be providing music throughout the event, filling the Market Place with Christmas Carols.

Mendip District Council will also be providing free parking over six days for the period of the event and during the rest of that week leading up to Christmas Eve to benefit both traders and shoppers. Free Parking in Wells will be available from Wednesday, December 19 to Monday, December 24. Time restrictions still apply and details are available on all car park signage.
