Mendip District Council's Current Vacancies:

Senior Planning Officer

Grade F, full time salary £31,341 - £34,710 per annum

We are looking for a qualified and experienced case officer to support the Council's delivery of the development management service through the effective handling of more complex planning casework, providing advice to customers, mentoring case officers and supporting the Area Planning Managers in the day-to-day management of the service.

Applicants must have a degree in planning and be eligible for chartered membership of the RTPI and be able to demonstrate extensive post-qualification experience dealing with a range of planning applications including complex and contentious proposals, giving pre-application advice and representing the Council for all types of appeal.  Applicants will also need to demonstrate extensive knowledge of overall planning process, policy, legislation, guidance and regulation and an awareness of the government planning reform agenda.

Team Leader - Development Management

Grade D, full time salary £41,787 - £46,407 per annum

We are looking for a qualified planner who has operated at Principal or Team Leader level within a local authority who is a member of the RTPI to manage one of two teams within the Development Management team to ensure service targets and outputs are met and be an active member of the Group Management Team. 

You will be responsible for securing the performance and quality of work produced by the team and for the motivation of individuals within the team, as well as handling casework of a complex or strategic nature. You will also have the ability to manage individual and team performance to achieve continuous improvements to service delivery.

You will need to demonstrate substantial post-qualification planning experience, with extensive experience of Development Management including complex casework and cross service working.

Salary: £25,000 per year / Full-time: 37.5 hours per week on average on shifts (included evenings and week-ends)

To have responsibility for the Frome Foyer, its staff and activity within.  Ensuring it provides a lively, engaging quality support service for residents and young people from the community.
