Redevelopment of Saxonvale

Mendip District Council is determined to invest in Frome's future and as such we have taken a bold and unusual move in buying the long-time empty site in Frome Town Centre locally known as Saxonvale for regeneration.

The Council has purchased two adjacent plots of land that were owned by Notts Industries and Terramond, which combined amounts to around 9.2 acres of land.

As the successful bidders for the land the Council plan to facilitate the development of the derelict site in the district to achieve a high quality regeneration that will be a credit to Frome and will include the creation of homes, commercial premises and public realm, whilst also generating capital and commercial returns for the local authority.

This regeneration project is at a very early stage, and we will be updating this page as progress is made.  You can subscribe to receive updates to this page by registering to the Mendip District Council website and at the bottom of this page click on 'subscribe to this page'.

We have developed some frequently asked questions that we hope will answer some of your questions, we will also adding to these as the project progresses.
