  • Inward investment discretionary rate relief

The principle of establishing an Enterprise Area at the Bath & West site was first proposed in the Mendip Economic Development Strategy, which was approved by Cabinet in January 2013, taking advantage of the provisions in the Localism Act 2011.

  • Support for Public Houses

This relief applies for one year only to occupied properties. Eligible properties with a rateable value of less than £100,000 will receive up to £1,000 discount.

  • Empty Property Relief

In general there will be no Business Rates to pay in the first three months that a property is empty.

Please note this scheme has now ended, however, if you believe you may still qualify for back dated relief please contact us as soon as possible.

  • Retail Relief

The Government announced in the Autumn Statement (29 October 2018) that it will provide a business rate relief scheme for occupied retail properties with a rateable value less than £51,000 in each of the years 2019/20 and 2020/21. The value of the relief should be one third of the bill, and must be applied after mandatory reliefs and other discretionary reliefs funded under Section 31 Grants have been applied.
