Have your say on Mendip's draft PSPO documents, representations received after 12 midnight on the 3rd October 2017 cannot be accepted.

Consultation on Draft Public Space Protection Orders

Mendip residents are being invited to have their say on a draft document from the council which aims to make the district safer.

Following overwhelmingly positive feedback during initial consultations earlier this year, the council has drafted two Public Space Protection Order PSPO:

pdf icon Play Areas for Under 5s PSPO No2 of 2017 [156kb]
pdf icon Annex 1 Map of District Wide PSPO No1 of 2017 [255kb]

PSPOs are part of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and allow police and local authorities to combat anti-social behaviour by targeting problem areas or behaviours. The orders can cover anything from consuming alcohol in public spaces to dog fouling and will normally only apply to certain pre-defined areas such as public parks or high streets.

Representations on the proposed District Wide Public Spaces Protection Order (No.1 of 2017) and Council Owned Play Areas Public Space Protection Order (No.2 of 2017) should be made to Mendip District Council by 12 midnight on the 3rd October 2017 either in writing to:
