Mendip Conservation Advisory Panel

The Mendip Conservation Advisory Panel comprises representatives of various civic and amenity societies and a local resident from each of the towns with expertise and special interest in historic conservation.

The primary function of the panel is to advise councillors and the council's planning department on certain applications for planning permission and listed building consent which:

  • Affect the character or appearance of a conservation area or its immediate boundaries;
  • Affect the character, setting or appearance of a listed building.

The panel may also consider changes of use, development briefs, policies, works to the highway or public areas, and the designation or extension of conservation areas.

It can also offer pre-application advice for any works affecting heritage assets.

The panel meets approximately every six weeks. Copies of the minutes of previous meetings and the dates of future meetings can be downloaded free of charge from this page.
