Licensing Consultations

Taxi Policy

On 12th April Mendip launched a consultation on a new pdf icon Taxi and Private Hire Policy [1Mb] for the district. We are planning to make a few changes to our current Policy and we would like to hear from you before we decide on the new Policy that we will implement. We are keen to maintain the higher standards brought in through our current policy and build on them further still.

Following the consultation exercise the final draft will be approved by the Licensing Board and then the Full Council. We then hope to implement the new policy from 1st October 2018.

We have produced a pdf icon pro forma [151kb] to help respond to this consultation as we are keen to hear from anyone working in the trade and all relevant parties. Comments are welcomed from any person or business directly or indirectly connected with the taxi and private hire trades: the general public, organisations and business that use these services and other statutory bodies involved in related regulation.

Please use this pro forma, as it is an effective means to respond to the main proposals contained within this Policy. It will help the Council in considering responses made through this process in a clear and focused way. The pro forma highlights the most significant changes being proposed and explains the reasons for the changes.

The consultation process will close at 5pm on 5th July 2018 and we hope to implement the changes on 1st October 2018.

Gambling Statement of Principles

On 17th April Mendip launched the consultation on a new pdf icon Gambling Statement of Principles [860kb] for the district. This Policy document is used by the Authority in connection with its responsibilities under the Gambling Act 2005. We are planning to make very minor changes to our current Policy and we would like to hear from you before we decide on the new Policy that we will implement in 2019.

Following the consultation exercise the final draft will be approved by the Licensing Board and then the Full Council. The new Policy will be published by no later than the end of December 2018 and implemented on 31st January 2019.

Comments are welcomed from any person or business directly or indirectly connected with the businesses and activities concerned; including the general public, organisations and business and other statutory bodies involved in related regulation.

The consultation process will close at 5pm on 10th July 2018.
