The Customer Services Team was established in April 2004 and is supported by a Customer Relationship Management system. Customer Services, Advice and Information is one of the largest service areas in the Council, and incorporates Customer Services, Information Technology System Administration, Website support and management.

The team deals the majority of customer enquiries through any method of contact the customer wishes to use; telephone, visiting council offices and Customer Information Points, letter, electronic mail and web forms.

There are five Council Information points; one at the main council offices in Shepton Mallet and the other four are located in Frome, Wells, Glastonbury and Street.

Our aim is to offer our customers a quality service -

  • one contact point for all council services and enquiries
  • first time answer to the majority of enquiries whether requesting information or the delivery of a council service
  • the tracking of enquiries - from initial contact to resolution
  • friendly and efficient staff who are there to help
  • a service which meets our customers; current needs and proactively working towards our customers' future needs

Should the customer services officer be unable to answer a query, they will forward it to the appropriate person. The Contact Centre is open to take telephone enquiries Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.00pm. The council offices in Shepton Mallet are open for personal callers Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm. Language Line and Minicom services are available.
