15 December 2017

Cllr Edward Drewe, Chairman of Mendip District Council wishes you a very happy Christmas.

As we edge nearer to this special time of year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of Mendip District Council's residents and communities, staff and councillors a very happy Christmas and New Year.

Christmas can be a time of great loneliness for those people who live alone or whose family or friends are away from them over the festive season. The council has been supporting the 'End Loneliness in Mendip' campaign this year and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to think of those in your communities, town, village or perhaps a neighbour that is spending Christmas alone this year. A simple smile, card or even a visit could mean a lot to someone who is experiencing loneliness at Christmas.

Spending time working across the district as Chairman, I have had the opportunity to meet with some exceptional people, who are doing great work to support residents and communities across Mendip and I look forward to meeting more in the New Year.

For now though, have a very happy Christmas.
