Don't forget to register to vote to take part in the UK Parliamentary election

With only one week to go until the deadline to register to vote in the UK Parliamentary election, Mendip District Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered in time.

On Thursday 8 June voters in Mendip will go to the polls to vote for their MP to represent the Wells and the Somerton & Frome constituencies in the UK Parliamentary election. The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 22 May.

Anyone not already registered to vote at their current address can register online at Registering to vote takes less than five minutes; all you need is your National Insurance number to hand.

Stuart Brown, Mendip District Council Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer, said: "June's elections are now just around the corner and I would urge anyone not yet registered to vote to do so as soon as possible.

"Registering to vote online is a straightforward process that only takes a few minutes to complete and means that you can have your say at the ballot box on the issues that affect your life."
