The awards, now in their third year, opened for entry on Thursday 5 January and will close at noon on Friday 31 March.  The winners will be announced during the evening celebrations at the Royal Bath & West Showground on Friday 2 June.

This year features three new awards within the ten categories open to local businesses, including Community Enterprise of the Year, Retail / Hospitality Business of the Year and Training & Development Excellence. Key sponsors Capita, The Royal Bath & West Society and Mendip District Council, with support from the Mid Somerset Series, the Frome Standard and local Chambers of Commerce, were also keen to get behind the awards once again.

Cllr Tom Killen, Deputy Leader of Mendip District Council said "I'm thrilled to have been involved in the Mendip Business Awards over the past two years and 2017 will be bigger and better than ever. The quality of entries received in 2016 made it a tough job for the judging panel and I'm sure we'll get just as high a standard this year. We are particularly keen to hear from smaller businesses who often do not get the recognition they deserve. The Mendip awards are specifically aimed at supporting and showcasing excellence in local enterprise, and companies of all sizes and industries are encouraged to get involved."
