Dog Fouling: Report an Offence

The Dog (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 came into force on 1st May 1997. This Act means you are legally obliged to clear up after your dog if it fouls any land which is open to the air, and to which the public have access. Remember that contact with dog excrement can lead to blindness, from an infection called Toxocara canis.

Grant Enquiry Form

Grants are available to help people to carry out repairs to their property, or to provide disabled adaptations if you are registered disabled. All grants are means tested. Below is an outline of the types of assistance offered by the council.

Grounds Maintenance – Grass Cutting

We cut the grass on all land owned or managed by Mendip District Council including urban highways, verges (rural verges are usually cut by the Somerset County Council), public open spaces, sports fields, parks town centres, cemeteries, closed churchyards. To report problems with grass in any of these areas please use this form.

Grounds Maintenance – Litter Bins

We provide litter bins throughout the District to allow you to dispose of your litter. Bins in busy areas may be emptied twice daily; others, in quieter locations, may only be emptied once a week. We do not normally provide litter bins in laybys - this is to encourage motorists to take their own litter home.
