Crime Prevention - Town Centre

Mendip District Council work with other agencies to strengthen the support of important initiatives in our major settlements and their rural hinterlands.

A key partner is the local Police Teams. Unfortunately there is a trend for an increase in what has been deemed "antisocial behaviour "within our settlements. The Area Regeneration Officers work with the police on initiatives to reduce this effect

For example:

Wells and Glastonbury have joined up with other award holders to form a regional group know as Avon and Somerset Business Crime Reduction Group which aims to combat Crime and Antisocial Behaviour by effective information sharing.

Safer Business Award

All 5 Mendip towns are the proud holders of the Safer Business Award - this award acknowledges the efforts being made in each settlement to improve the quality of the area for all those in business and those who visit the towns - it does not say everything is perfect but it does say the town is aware of its issues and is taking positive steps to tackling them.

Radiolink

The support of Radiolink in our towns have been fundamental to the reduction in crime in our settlements throughout the District.
