Household Waste Recycling Centres are a facility that are provided by Somerset Waste Partnership on behalf of Somerset County Council right across the County, for householders to take extra refuse and items that cannot be put out for collection. They are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
In Mendip you will find them at:
For further information on what can be taken to these sites please see Recycle Somerset - Household Waste Recycling Centres
A service to make recycling easier than it's ever been has been launched in Somerset.
All 18 of the county's household waste recycling centres will be joining the swap your box project which got underway in April 2005.
The idea is that householders can call at any of the centres with their green or black plastic recycling box and leave it with staff at the site. They will then swap it for an empty box and recycle the contents once the householder has left. Householders can fill the box with any one type of recyclable that is normally recycled at the centres, including cardboard, garden waste, metal, timber, plastic bottles, bric-a-brac, plus the usual paper, cans and glass.
Note: Please do not put more than one type of material in a Swap box as this can lead to contamination.
