Tourist Information Centres

The Mendip District has 5 nationally-approved Tourist Information Centres (TICs), located in the towns of Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Street and Wells. TICs in Mendip are operated by separate, not-for-profit companies, and are financially assisted by Mendip District Council.

TICs are able to answer most enquiries from visitors and residents on all matters relating to tourism locally; including accommodation finding/booking, attractions, events, where to eat, theatre and public transport bookings, sales of books,maps, publications and souvenirs.

Finding Accommodation

All TICs in Mendip are able to help enquirers to find accommodation locally, from lists of appoved and inspected premises which meet Tourist Board, AA or RAC national standards. To finalise a booking, visitors need to call at a TIC in person. TICs are not allowed to 'recommend' individual establishments, but can help enquirers to narrow down their choice from an approved list of establishments.
