Sports and Leisure in the Community

With our Partners, we aim to increase participation in and opportunities for, Sport and Leisure in the District.

Our Service is made up of a Community Sports and Leisure Officer, a Recreation Co-ordinator and a Resource Centre Co-ordinator and we are all based at the Council Offices in Shepton Mallet. We work with a number of Partners to deliver a variety of sports development and rural leisure initiatives across the district.

To find out more ..........

By following the "useful pages" links, you can find out more about the individual areas of work listed below.

Members of Mendip Community Sport Network have put together a survey to find out what activities children and their parents would like put on during the school holidays. If you have children and live and work in Mendip, please spare a few minutes to complete the survey by clicking on the link entitled 'Childrens Activities during School holidays' which can be found in the Useful Websites section at the bottom right hand side of the page.

Sports Development

Sports development programmes are designed to encourage participation in sport from all sections of the community and provide pathways that will enable Mendip residents to maximise their sporting abilities, aspirations and potential.

The Community Sports and Leisure Team can help with:
