Mendip District Council operates 44 car parks throughout the district. Of these 7 are free, 3 are residents only, 3 are business only and the remainder are pay & display. Charges and operating times vary between car parks.
Season tickets are available in a wide variety of car parks. These are open to the general public, business users and residents (with the exception of Residents only car parks).
Parking bays may be hired from Mendip District Council.
Mendip District Council has no responsibility for Mendip Housing Ltd Car Parks, Private car parks or On-Street Parking.

Shepton Mallet - Commercial Road, Great Ostry
Frome - Merchants Barton, North Parade, Cattle Market
Glastonbury - Norbins Road, St Johns, Northload Street West, Butt Close, Silver Street
Street - Cranhill Road, Strode Road
Residents permits provide car parking for residents who reside in certain areas.
Residents Permits are sold in the following car parks (subject to availability):
Shepton Mallet - Zion Hill
Frome - South Parade, Wine Street, Rook Lane.
Payment of Excess Charge Notice, Season Tickets and Residents Permits can be made by one of the following methods:-
Due to the increasing number of Blue Badge holders, designated spaces tend to fill up quickly, therefore, Blue Badge holders may park free of charge in any marked bay (except Greenbank Pool, Residents Only & Service Yard areas). All major car parks have designated disabled bays. Please see the tariff boards in the car parks for any time restrictions and additional requirements that apply.
When using car parks with a time restriction on them, Blue Badge holders are required to display the clock part of their badge as well. Please see tariff board in each car park for specific instructions.
The renewals and issuing of Blue Badges for the Mendip area is carried out by Somerset County Council Social Services. If you wish to renew your Blue Badge contact Somerset County Council on 0845 345 9133.

There is no specific parking allocation within Mendip for caravans and motor homes, with the exception of Clarks Village (see below).
Caravans and motor-homes may park in all major car parks but payment must be made for the number of spaces occupied. (The 1525 kg weight limit primarily applies to commercial vehicles only.)
Caravans and motor homes may not use coach or bus bays.
Caravan and motor-home parking is available at Clarks Village. This parking is located in the car park off Southleaze Road. Customers wishing to use this facility should follow the signs from Southleaze car park.
At present there are limited specific facilities in car parks for motorcycles. A review of all car parks will be carried out which will include motorcycles.
At present motorcycles are charged in the same manner as other users, however, given the physical difficulties of displaying a Pay & Display ticket Mendip District Council are flexible in their approach.
Heavy goods vehicles may park in the following car parks between 6 pm and 9 am, 7 days per week. See tariff boards for charges.
Health and Safety issues relating to car parks throughout Mendip are prioritised and resources allocated accordingly.

All Mendip District Council car parks are maintained by the Car Parks and Transport Department and are inspected daily.
Defects that present a risk to public health and safety are dealt with as a priority. Contractors are employed to deal with the routine maintenance programme.
In order to rectify any defects or problems we need to know the following:
Mendip District Council work in partnership with the Police to resolve issues of this nature and where possible will pursue known offenders through the courts.
Mendip District Council are unable to devolve authority for enforcement to organisations such as Neighbourhood Watch or individuals. Noise and anti-social behaviour are primarily the responsibility of the Police.
